Meghan Markle Allegedly Files For Divorce

A recent Twitter post sparked a flood of rumors about Meghan Markle’s alleged divorce. And the post went viral for its allegations that the Duchess of Sussex wanted millions as well as custody.

Originally written by commentator Ada Lluch, the tweet about Meghan seeking divorce got viewed 6.9 million times, according to Newsweek.

In her post, the commentator claimed Meghan “allegedly filed divorce papers asking for $80 million plus the total custody of Archie and Lilibet. Rumors are that Meghan Markle is separating from Harry. She took him from his family after she embarrassed the British Royal Family and made his whole nation hate him.”

However, Lluch also tweeted that Harry became “broke and lonely because of [Meghan].” But the commentator later offered a citation from a Spanish news outlet as proof. And it reads, “Meghan Markle’s astronomical divorce fee from Prince Harry revealed.” That article goes on to allege that the Duchess of Sussex “filed a financial demand for 80 million dollars to sign the divorce papers, as well as demanding sole custody of their two children.” But it includes no sources other than a vague reference to the British media.

However, Twitter detractors of Meghan and Harry took the divorce rumors and expanded on them. For instance, one commentator wrote, “WOAH! Meghan Markle Files For $80 MILLION DIVORCE!?” And the post added the hashtag “#DumbPrinceAndHisStupidWife.”

But while Twitter commentators gossiped about Meghan and Harry allegedly divorcing, insiders brushed off the claims. And they described the two as “happy together.” For instance, photographer Karl Larsen shared, “So nice to see my friends Harry and Meghan on Friday before they get away for the long weekend. Please do not believe the media. They are very much in love,” added Larsen. “And [they] are happy together. Nothing but smiles and laughter here.”

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do face challenges in their media career. Because the Emmy Awards voters snubbed the couple’s Netflix documentary series in the category of “Outstanding Documentary Or Nonfiction Series,” Meghan and Harry reportedly felt disappointed. However, when the six-part series debuted on Netflix, it became the fastest-streamed documentary series on the site. And if they can find a topic other than trashing the royal family, perhaps they will create a new show as popular as that Twitter post claiming their divorce.
