Meghan Markle Insists Her Netflix Cooking Show Is Not A Reality TV Series

Meghan Markle is continuing to promote her Netflix cooking show, ‘With Love, Meghan,’ with glitzy appearances in TV talk shows, and most recently, at a TIME100 summit in New York.

There, she touched on elements of her show that have received heavy criticisms from fans and the media alike, like the fairy sprinkle. Remember the fairy sprinkle? Fans definitely thought that was too much, but unfortunately, Meghan does not agree.

Meghan Markle Reveals the Reason She Didn’t Allow ‘With Love, Meghan’ To Be Filmed In Her Kitchen

‘With Love, Meghan’ may not have had the massive audience score, like say some of Netflix’s top tier shows, and it may also have fallen below expectations in critic circles. Nevertheless, it is coming back for a second season. Great news for Meghan and fans I’m sure.

This week, however, Meghan, joined by husband Prince Harry, took the time to attend a Time100 summit in New York.

There, she was invited to the stage and was grilled by TIME presenter Jessica Sibley, who made her open up about the grit and calculated thoughts that went into making the show.

First things first, why didn’t Meghan Markle use her kitchen to film the show like any other old celebrity-turned-chef?

Well, turns out she opted to film outside her home in order to keep her children’s memories from being contaminated with the sight of 80 people in their kitchen.

“Eighty people in the kitchen isn’t really the childhood memory I’d like them [her kids] to have.”

The Duchess and former actress then went on to touch on what motivated her to create the series, saying, “Part of what’s really really important is that love language of taking care of people feeds me. It’s in many ways part of my self care.”

As for how she kept herself from burning out during filming, she shared, “Doing it in a way that’s thoughtful and so authentic it actually energises you as opposed to depleting you.”
Her goal, however, was to create a cooking show that was unlike any other out there. She added, “I didn’t want a reality show.”

Meghan Markle Reacts To Her Infamous Flower Sprinkles

When the topic got to the flower sprinkles she used frequently throughout the show, the Duchess exclaimed, “Oh my gosh!”

She then explained, “You’d think I’m a little fairy tossing them around all the time. The obsession that has come with flower sprinkles. Of all things we could be talking about…it speaks to the tiny moment of joy that are so effortless and create a little bit of magic we’re all craving every day.”

“The level of charm people have when they see these tiny little dried petals is something I can’t wrap my head around but appreciate,” she continued. “There is a love for the detail and a small level of delight that can be added.”
