Meghan Markle knows that her estranged brother-in-law Prince William has some choice words with her.

That’s because the Prince of Wales wants to know why Meghan’s engagement ring has been missing. The ring is particularly important to him because it belonged to his late mother, Princess Diana. The Prince of Wales also wants answers. Here’s what you need to know.

The Duchess of Sussex fears there will be a “bigger strain” on her relationship with Prince William over the missing engagement ring.

The Duchess of Sussex has not been spotted in public with the ring for months now, prompting speculation that either she’s getting it fixed or it indeed might be broken. That, or some critics think she might be “deliberately” not wearing it.

Laura Taylor, an engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, recently explained why Prince William might be particularly worried about the ring.

She said, “Prince William’s concern over the diamonds from his mother’s collection, featured in Meghan’s engagement ring, is understandable. However, this isn’t the first time Meghan has been seen without her engagement ring, and each time previously the ring has reappeared with Diana’s jewels still intact.”

Taylor continued, “Prince William’s worry over Diana’s diamonds may be playing a role in Meghan’s decision to not wear the ring. Meghan may be keeping the ring safe to avoid losing Diana’s diamonds, knowing that if they were misplaced it would put an even bigger strain on the relationship between the two families.”

One insider close to the situation also added, “Given that she redesigned the ring to include a detailed micro pavé band in 2019, which is known to be susceptible to knocks, this theory holds weight and was likely the case to begin with.”
