Meghan Markle Calls Queen Elizabeth ‘Welcoming’
A new video has gone viral for supposedly revealing Meghan Markle telling a fib. And it concerns Queen Elizabeth’s feelings about the Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan has claimed that when she tied the knot with Prince Harry, Queen Elizabeth behaved in a “warm and welcoming” way, according to MSN.
The viral video stems from the Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. And it takes place a year after Meghan and Harry exited their roles in the royal family. In general, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex complained about how the royal family treated them.

But Meghan claimed that Queen Elizabeth behaved in a kind way. And the Duchess of Sussex said, “She gave me beautiful pearl earrings and a matching necklace. And we were in the car going between engagements.”
But then Markle recalled how Queen Elizabeth owned “a blanket that sits across her knees for warmth. And it was chilly, and she was like, ‘Meghan, come on’ and put it over my knees as well. Just moments of … and it made me think of my grandmother, where she’s always been warm and inviting and … and really welcoming.”
Meghan Markle Lied About Queen Elizabeth?
However, the viral video from that interview has made some think that Meghan lied about Queen Elizabeth. Because in her interview with Oprah, the Duchess of Sussex claimed that Queen Elizabeth shared her blanket with Meghan.

And the caption for the clip says, “When Meghan lied on Oprah … Some recollections may vary.” The actual footage shows Queen Elizabeth putting the blanket over her own legs. And viewers think that a small piece of the blanket might have touched Meghan by accident rather than the Queen deliberately sharing the blanket.
But some thought that Meghan did get to use part of the blanket. And one viewer claimed, “You can see she puts it on her legs. It’s not a lie.” But others disagreed. For instance, one argued, “I don’t see the blanket on [Meghan’s] knees.”
And others thought that Queen Elizabeth seemed to completely ignore Meghan. For example, one viewer wrote, “Another lie. The queen put her blanket on herself and looked out the window to begin waving to her royal subjects … ignoring Markle.” And another scoffed, “Suggesting the queen served her by putting the blanket on her lap and that she was equally sharing the queen’s blanket.” One critic wrote off the Duchess of Sussex’s claims, noting, “Doubt it. That happened only in [her] mind.”
