Meghan Markle Made History As One of First Divorcees To Marry Into Royal Family

Meghan Markle After Queen Elizabeth granted permission for Prince Harry to marry Meghan Markle, the latter became one of the first divorcees to marry into the British Royal Family. However, although Meghan is one of the first, she isn’t actually “the” first. That dubious honor belongs to Wallis Simpson, a divorced American woman who eventually married King Edward. The British monarch abdicated in 1936 so that he could marry Ms. Simpson. When King Edward stepped down from his throne, he moved to France where Ms. Simpson was residing (and who was still technically married at the time to her former husband).

With that said, Meghan Markle has gone on to be first in a number of other aspects when it comes to marrying into the British Royal Family. Notably, Ms. Markle is the first woman of mixed ancestry to become a senior member of The Firm. As well, Meghan Markle is a woman who has changed her religious affiliation numerous times over the course of her life. Perhaps not so strange for many, but Meghan had to specifically be baptized into The Church of England before marrying Prince Harry.

Many view Meghan’s baptism and confirmation into the Church of England to have been a mere formality and something of a show as it says nothing about her own, perhaps deeply held spiritual beliefs, and was simply a hurdle she needed to leap in order to marry Prince Harry.

Meghan Markle After Marrying Prince Harry

Like her predecessor, Ms. Simpson, Meghan Markle wooed Prince Harry but soon got the man to ditch the UK for lands outside Great Britain. While Ms. Simpson convinced King Edward (who became the Duke of Windsor) to move to France, Meghan put a leash on Prince Harry and dragged him all the way to her former stomping grounds in California. Of course, Prince Harry has gushed to video callers on Zoom that he loves living in the area, but the fact remains that it’s where Meghan wants to be that is the determining factor for where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now live.

As for where the pair now lives, most know that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry bought a home for $14.5 Million in the ultra-exclusive, celebrity-filled neighborhood of Montecito in Santa Barbara. There, the couple has apparently annoyed their new neighbors to no end as paparazzi have descended upon the once quiet area in the hopes of snapping a lucrative photo of Harry and Meghan.

It’s All About Yoga And Peace of Mind For Meghan Markle Now

Perhaps as part of Meghan Markle’s spirituality and as a means of destressing over the fact that a great many strangers are constantly trying to photograph her, fans know that the duchess indulges in yoga sessions. At least two times a week, Meghan Markle is known to do her yoga and now she’s also enjoying pilates sessions with British singer, Adele.

Indeed, the pair are reported to have struck up a friendship with the latter coming over to Meghan and Prince Harry’s home in order to talk and work out.
