Meghan Markle Reportedly Begged For Tabloid Attention

My how times have certainly changed! While there’s no doubt that Meghan Markle has had enough of all the tabloid coverage from this past year, apparently there was a time in which she did want media outlets to write about her!

As a matter of fact, there’s a new report that suggests that the former Hollywood actress had once “begged” for publications to write about her. Here’s what you need to know.

According to Katie Hind from The Mail on Sunday, she met with Meghan at London’s trendy Soho back in November of 2013. This was three years before she met and fell in love with Prince Harry and definitely way before she became a household name.

Katie says that Meghan’s publicist in the UK hounded her for a meeting, despite the fact that no one knew who Meghan was at the time. The journalist says that she never even heard of Meghan or her USA legal drama series at the time, Suits. But Meghan’s publicist was still very keen in having her write about her in their paper. That’s because Meghan was supposedly looking to garner some attention across the pond, but for what reason no one really knows.

“Keen to make a name in Britain, her U.K. publicist had all but begged me — then a showbusiness journalist for a red-top newspaper – to meet the actress for a drink,” Hind said.

The journalist says that all in all her first meeting with Meghan Markle was a rather pleasant one and that the future Duchess of Sussex was apparently “eager” to make her a friend despite the fact that they had just met.

“It soon became clear that Meghan was determined to raise her profile, even if it was with an inconsequential 80-word piece tagged onto the end of my weekly column. All in all, she seemed grateful that I was helping. We even hugged.”

This, of course, is in clear contrast of Meghan’s current situation. She recently said in an ITV documentary that she was surprised by the unrelenting media attention that she’s received ever since she married Prince Harry.
