Meghan Markle Says She And Prince Harry Have No Control Over Their Netflix Documentary

For the first time, there’s a meaningful confirmation of the oft-rumored docuseries the Sussexes are filming for Netflix through their Archewell Productions.

Page Six first broke the news that the former senior royals are filming a Kardashian-style series for Netflix that was initially slotted for release towards the end of the year. At first, a Sussex spokesperson denied the news of the couple filming at their Montecito mansion, but Meghan Markle confirmed that it really is in production during her Variety interview.

During the Duchess’ Variety interview, she touched on several subjects including whether she’ll be making an acting comeback, how she was affected by the Queen’s death, and of course the topic fans are most enthusiastic to hear, about their docuseries.

She revealed that the docuseries will be directed by Liz Garbus, of “What Happened, Miss Simone?” and “Love, Marilyn” fame.

She added, “It’s interesting. My husband has never worked in this industry before. For me, having worked on ‘Suits,’ it’s so amazing to be around so much creative energy and to see how people work together and share their own points of view. That’s been really fun”

“It’s nice to be able to trust someone with our story — a seasoned director whose work I’ve long admired — even if it means it may not be the way we would have told it,” Meghan told Variety. “But that’s not why we’re telling it. We’re trusting our story to someone else, and that means it will go through their lens.”

This is coming after Netflix released a statement on Monday, October 17, that “there’s never been any documentary from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed.”
