Meghan Markle made the recent cover of Variety and immediately went viral for her takes on Hollywood, especially her past as a “Deal Or No Deal” briefcase girl.
During the interview, she revealed that she quit her job as a briefcase model on the popular gameshow because she didn’t like how it made her feel. She also said that she wouldn’t want to work for an establishment that values her for her beauty and not for her brains.
It’s been four years since she quit her acting career in order to marry Britain’s Prince Harry, but she’s not considering returning, at least not for the foreseeable future.
Meghan Markle – Remembers Feeling Scared When She Got Her “Suits” Role
For all the fans of Meghan Markle who would love to see the former actress back on their screens playing any other character that isn’t Meghan Markle, I guess it’s not a dream that’ll likely be fulfilled.
Meghan Markle is done with acting, and I mean done! The 41-year-old’s final bow in the acting scene was playing Rachel Zane in the paralegal drama “Suits” – a character she played from 2011 to 2017.
“No. I’m done,” the mom of two said in an interview for Variety‘s cover story, published October 19. “I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not,” she added.
Shortly after meeting Harry and becoming engaged, she announced her desire to step back from acting and concentrate on her humanitarian work. Even though she made the decision to quit, she did admit that when she initially got the part in the series, she was worried she was going to lose it.
“For me, I had tried for so long to land on a show, filming all these pilots, wondering if they would get picked up. All of Season 1 on ‘Suits,’ I was convinced I was going to get recast,” she said. “All the time. It got to a point where the creator was like, ‘Why are you so worried about this?’ ”
Meghan Markle – On How Streamers Have Changed the Entertainment Industry
Another topic that the Duchess of Sussex touched on during her interview with Variety was how Hollywood has “shifted quite a bit” and why she preferred the old format.

“The ability to create zeitgeist moments like we had in the ’90s — where everyone would tune in at the same time for a show or gather for one moment? — that doesn’t happen anymore.”
“When I was doing ‘Suits,’ that character, Rachel Zane, was in your living room with you while you were in your pajamas eating Chinese takeout,” Meghan further said. “That’s how connected the experience felt then. But to create a cultural moment or conversation requires something different today. Podcasting has been really interesting in that way. It might be one of the only remaining forums where people are alone to listen. Where else do you have that opportunity?”
