The Golden Globes 2024 highlights included a Suits cast reunion. But Meghan Markle noticeably did not attend.
However, Suits star Gina Torres threw some shade at the Duchess of Sussex on the red carpet. But as rumors soared that no one invited Meghan to the Golden Globes, an insider spilled on how the Duchess actually snubbed the awards show. Get all the details below.
Suits Star Shades Meghan Markle
Among the Golden Globes 2024 highlights, a reunion of the Suits cast delighted fans. But Suits alum Meghan Markle did not participate. And rumors soared that the Duchess of Sussex did not receive an invitation to the Golden Globes.
However, Suits star Gina Torres revealed that the entire cast participates in a group chat that included planning the reunion.
But then she threw shade. And Gina shared that Meghan, 42, does not participate in the texting group chat with her other Suits co-stars, per the NY Post.
However, Torres, 54, who portrayed Jessica Pearson on Suits, gushed, “Our text thread is insane right now, so it’s very exciting.” But asked if Meghan participated, Gina got shady by sharing that no one in the cast received the Duchess of Sussex’s number.
And Meghan’s former co-star admitted, “We don’t have her number. We just don’t.” However, the rest of the cast enjoyed the reunion. And series stars Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams served as presenters at the star-studded ceremony.
Meghan Markle Snubs Golden Globes
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Sussex, who portrayed Rachel Lane on Suits, sparked speculation about her absence from the Golden Globes. But an insider told Page Six that Meghan rejected the opportunity to reunite with her Suits co-stars at the Golden Globes.
And when the Duchess of Sussex received an invitation to join former cast members Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres on stage to present the best TV drama, she turned it down. “We asked the duchess, but we were told that, unfortunately, she had a previous commitment,” revealed a source inside the Golden Globes.
Meanwhile, the Suits cast (without Meghan) made their appearance after Golden Globes host Jo Koy roasted Prince Harry and his wife. “Turns out Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will still get paid millions of dollars for doing absolutely nothing. And that’s just by Netflix,” he joked.
But cameras showed the streamer platform’s CEO Ted Sarandos laughing. And that joke followed one about the “royal family drama The Crown” on Netflix. After making jokes about Succession, Koy added, “Just a great series about a rich, white, dysfunctional family, all scheming.”
But then he joked, “Oh no that’s ‘The Crown,’ that’s ‘The Crown,’ I’m sorry.” And Koy threw shade at Meghan and Harry again. “How great was Imelda Staunton in ‘The Crown,’ wasn’t she amazing? The portrayal of the queen was so good Prince Harry called her and asked her for money,” he mocked.
