Meghan Markle To Stop Harry’s Deposition In Samantha’s Lawsuit?

Meghan Markle and her half-sister, Samantha are not besties. Actually, after the now infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey, Samantha was furious and set out to bring a lawsuit. You might recall that Meghan made out that she felt like an only child when she grew up. You might also recall that at the time, judge Charlene Honeywell didn’t want an expensive and prolonged case. Now, it seems that Harry’s wife is using that to get her legal team to try and prevent Harry from being deposed. 

Meghan Markle – Claims Samatha’s Lawsuit Has No Merit

Samantha claimed that she and her half-sister were not as estranged as Harry’s wife made out. Recall, when Oprah Winfrey interviewed the couple, it seemed as if the Duchess of Sussex made out that they were so far apart that she felt like an “only child.” And that really made Samatha mad. So, she took out a lawsuit against her sister, claiming defamation. Well, in response, the former Suits actress felt that it was a “meritless” waste of time. 

About a month after Meghan Markle describe the lawsuit as meritless, Samantha wasn’t backing down at all. In fact, her legal team claimed that they had the proof to show that the two sisters were not all that estranged. Using an often favored expression, Samantha referred to “porky pies,” a British term for telling fibs. As Harry’s wife made the statement during an interview that had countless viewers, it was felt that it’s not enough to claim “subjective thinking.”

Can Meghan Markle Stop Harry From Being Deposed? 

According to Geo Tv, Meghan’s legal team filed to the court saying, “A deposition of Mr. Markle at this juncture, along with other discovery, would be an unnecessary spectacle and waste of the parties’ time, money, and resources.”  Actually, other people are listed. There are “19 non-party witnesses, including Prince Harry, Meghan’s mother, Oprah Winfrey, and several journalists/media personalities who reside in the United Kingdom” Plus, two authors are listed. 

It is interesting to note that the legal team of Meghan Markle took the same line as judge Charlene Honeywell. Recall, she didn’t want an expensive case to drag on forever. So, her legal team talked about that massive list. GeoTv cited the filing as saying., “Samantha Markle should not be permitted to force Meghan and, potentially, numerous non-parties to devote substantial resources to extraneous discovery.” In fact, they argued that “a meritorious motion, could dispose of the entire case…” So, it can be presumed that Harry wouldn’t have to be deposed.

Possibly, The Judge Agrees With The Motion

Meghan Markle seems to have herself a very good legal team. After all, they virtually used the same points of view as Judge Honeywell to argue against all the witnesses having to appear in the lawsuit proceedings. What do you think? Shout out in the comments below.
