The Duchess of Sussex made her first public appearance following last Sunday’s ITV documentary. Joining the opening ceremony of One Young World Summit at the Royal Albert Hall, Meghan Markle had an awkward encounter with one of the founds, Kate Roberston.
The Duchess Wants A Hug Not A Curtsy
When she went to the stage, Meghan went for a friendly hug to greet Kate but the latter had something else in mind. It seemed like Kate wanted to shake, curtsy, and hug Meghan at the same time.
With Meghan approaching her with arms wide open, Kate accepts the Duchess’ hug while still kneeling to curtsy. Meghan could be seen shaking her head but the pair just laughed it off while locked in a warm embrace.
Meghan wore a purple midi dress to the event. She was seen wearing the same dress paired with a red jacket back when she was still pregnant with Archie in January. During that time, she was with Prince Harry as they visited Birkenhead.
An Avid Supporter Of One Young World
Meghan Markle has been supporting One Young World since she joined the organization as a counsellor back in 2014. The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, where Meghan is the vice president, has partnered with the organization and helped bring 53 people to the said summit.
Co-founders Kate Robinson and David Jones expressed their delight to have the Duchess of Sussex back on their stage. They said Meghan has been a loved member of their community and continues to inspire young leaders across the globe.
They also said, “We’re delighted to be partnering with the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, of which the Duchess is Vice President, to provide scholarships for young leaders from every Commonwealth country to attend the One Young World Summit in London.”

The Queen is the Patron of the Commonwealth Trust while Prince Harry is the trust’s President. They all work together to support, fund, and connect young leaders in different parts of the world who wish to improve their respective community.
Meghan’s appearance at the opening ceremony came two days after the airing of the ITV documentary called “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.” Meghan and Prince Harry opened up about the tabloid rumours and how their privacy was being invaded.
