Meghan Markle just loves playing the victim role. And in a new interview, the Duchess of Sussex seized the opportunity to complain about her struggles. But for some reason, it seems difficult to sympathize with someone who whines about not feeling able to afford a $14 million mansion.
Spoiler Alert: Meghan and Prince Harry did eventually buy their luxury home. But that didn’t stop Markle from going into detail about her supposed challenges in affording it. Get all the details below.
Meghan Markle – Recalls ‘Struggles’ Buying $14 Million Mansion
Deluded as to how she might sound to readers, the Duchess of Sussex once again went for a pity party-style interview via Yahoo. And Meghan Markle whimpered and whined about how much she supposedly suffered in wanting a $14 million mansion. But at the time, the self-proclaimed victim of the royal family felt that the mansion seemed too much for her and hubby Prince Harry to afford.
Markle discussed all the supposed struggles that she and Harry experienced after quitting their duties as senior working royals. And she focused on their search for a new home. But then the couple found the Montecito mansion where they now live.
However, at the time, Meghan felt that they could not afford it. Portrayed as a combination of a “classic Tuscan villa, a Napa vineyard, and a Beverly Hills country club,” the mansion appealed to the Duchess and Duke of Sussex. “We were looking in this area (Montecito, California). And this house kept popping up online in searches,” recalled Markle. But because neither worked at the time, they hesitated on the price tag of $14.65 million.
Meghan Markle – Did ‘Everything’ To Buy 9-Bedroom, 16-Bathroom Estate
The Duchess of Sussex compared looking at mansions to window shopping. “We didn’t have jobs, so we were just not going to come and see this house. It wasn’t possible. It’s like when I was younger. And you’re window shopping. It’s like, I don’t want to go and look at all the things that I can’t afford. That doesn’t feel good.”
But Meghan and Prince Harry then decided they needed and wanted the mansion. And so the Duchess of Sussex boasted that they did “everything they could” to buy it. “It sparks feelings of joy and calm as soon as you enter it. It’s healing; you feel free,” she added.
And as a result of their deals with Netflix and Spotify, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now enjoy their 9-bedroom, 16-bathroom mansion every day. A large garden palm trees, a pool, and a tennis court add to the appeal. And Meghan shared that the two intertwined palm trees seem comparable to her relationship with Prince Harry.
“See how they’re connected at the bottom?” asked Meghan about the palm trees. “He goes, ‘My love, it’s us.’ And now every day Archie goes by us, he says, ‘Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.’”
