Much debate has happened on social media and in the headlines about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and their “brand name” Sussex Royal. Harry and Meghan recently announced that they will not, or should we say, cannot use that personal branding since their departure from the royal family.
This week, Meghan’s longtime pal, stylist Jessica Mulroney has registered the brand new web domain sussexglobalcharities.com, most likely on Meghan’s behalf.
Meghan, Harry, and their personal branding
No doubt Prince Harry and Meghan are disappointed to have to drop their brand name, Sussex Royal after Harry’s grandmother told them in no uncertain terms to drop it. Despite this, they obviously had a different plan in place to at least use the “Sussex” part of the brand name.
This is clear from the domain name sussexglobalcharities.com, registered this week by Meghan’s BFF, Jessica Mulroney. Mulroney registered the new website via her own charity which supports vulnerable women, the Shoebox Project Foundation, but it is obvious this was for Meghan and Harry’s benefit.
Meghan and Harry not happy to drop their brand
After the Queen put pressure on Harry and Meghan to drop “royal” from their brand, the couple made it clear they weren’t happy about this in their 2020 transition plans. It was only made clear to us mere mortals on Friday last week that Prince Harry and Meghan had to drop the Sussex Royal branding. In the meantime, Meghan’s pal Jessica had registered the domain name on Wednesday, two days prior to the announcement.
Of course, the formerly royal couple has used their friends before registering domain names which could be handy in the future. This includes Andrew Meyer, Meghan’s US business manager, who registered two on Meghan’s behalf on October 23, 2018, namely archefoundation.com and archefoundation.org.
These two were registered eight days after the couple revealed they were pregnant with their first child, who of course turned out to be little Archie. No doubt Harry and Meghan had picked out baby names before even knowing the gender of their royal offspring!
Meghan and Harry to take a year
It was recently reported that from the end of March this year, Prince Harry and Meghan will take a year’s break from royal life while living happily in Vancouver. At the end of that year, the couple will reevaluate their position and their lives to see if they wish to carry on independently or join the royal family again. Whichever they choose and whatever they do, Meghan and Harry and sure to continue appearing in the world headlines.
