But apparently, that’s not enough for the Duchess of Sussex to pick up the phone and call her father to see how he is doing. Instead, she sent him a handwritten note and closed the loop from there.
For a lot of royalists on both sides of the pond, they just can’t understand why the Duchess of Sussex won’t end her estrangement with her father and let bygones be bygones.
After all, just like King Charles, it doesn’t seem like he’s got much time left which is why now would be the best time for them to reconcile and let the past be in the past.

But for Meghan Markle, she just doesn’t see it that same way. Even though she’s never said it, there’s a very good chance that she thinks that her father Thomas and the rest of the Markle family is toxic, which is why she’s keeping them at a distance.
Not only that, but she apparently doesn’t think it’s a good idea for Thomas to finally meet her husband, Prince Harry, or his two grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet.
Whatever Thomas did to his daughter in the past is enough to make Meghan never want to speak to her father again, let alone be in the same room as him.
That’s why she’s made her decision and it’s final. Sure, this might be another lonely Christmas for the Sussex family, but she would rather have it that way than deal with her father’s drama, no matter how hurtful it may be.
So far the Duchess of Sussex herself has not made any comments about the matter, although at this point it’s doubtful that anything will be said. Watch this space for more.
