The product is the first offering from American Riviera Orchard and was sent to influencers and friends. So far only three people whose names you’ve never heard before have admitted on social media to being one of Meghan’s giftees.
Royal Family News: Meghan is Selling Jam
PR expert Mark Borkowski is not impressed with the launch: “It’s either hubris or else very weird strategy. What’s in it? What does it taste like? There’s no story there, nothing on the back, just a label – and even that looks like it’s peeling off.” Stay classy Meghan.
Meghan is a latecomer to the jam game, as decades ago her father-in-law King Charles sold jam from the Duchy of Cornwall. These days Duchy organic strawberry jam can be bought at Waitrose stores for £2.80 per jar.
Royal Family News – Why Is Meghan Selling Jam?
Borkowski told the Times of Meghan’s jam: “It’s a clear karaoke of what her father-in-law has been doing for a couple of decades with great success – but with far less authenticity. Do we really think Meghan has been stirring the jam pan herself?”
We know she’s not using her own kitchen in her £12million mansion for her upcoming Netflix cooking show, she’s renting one somewhere. So how to believe there is anything authentic about the former basic cable actress?
Royal Family News – Where Is Meghan’s Cooking Show Based?
Brand expert Ronn Torossian told the Daily Mirror that for Meghan to be successful she must “expand her outreach between now and an official consumer launch of the jam.”
The soft launch comes after Meghan announced her new business venture on Instagram in March. The blurry video showed Meghan picking flowers in a black ball gown, and looking busy in a kitchen—that we now know is a rental property.
Branding expert Nick Ede told MailOnline that “The creation of individually numbered jars of jam sent to a selected group of influential people is exactly what I thought that Meghan would do.”
Fans were not impressed by Meghan’s product with one commenting “What a jam Harry got himself into with Megan Marmelade. He used to be the UKs favourite royal, now he’s flogging preserves.” Another took note of the label fail: “Even the label wants nothing to do with her jam and is desperate to get away!”
