Meghan Markle’s Netflix Show Gets LESS Views Than Peppa Pig Cartoon!

Peppa Pig, a children’s cartoon show, scored many more viewers on Netflix than Meghan Markle’s and Prince Harry’s highly publicized (and prohibitively expensive to make) documentary series. And the bad news for the Duchess and Duke of Sussex didn’t end there.

Find out which other shows attracted more viewers than Meghan and Harry’s documentary series. And keep reading to learn how critics analyzed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s brand buzz bummer.

Peppa Pig Preferred To Meghan Markle

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle first announced plans to star in a documentary series for Netflix, some compared the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new show to a royal version of Keeping Up With The Kardashians (KUWTK). But while KUWTK soared in the ratings for 20 seasons, Harry and Meghan’s £88m Netflix series has flopped.

And a new report via the Daily Mail reveals that Harry and Meghan’s highly publicized and expensive show proved less popular than the children’s cartoon Peppa Pig.

For instance, viewers watched the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s show for a total of 62 million streaming hours. But the first two seasons of the children’s cartoon attracted viewers for more than 140 million hours combined.

Meghan and Harry sought to make the drama of quitting their royal life into a KUWTK-style reality TV series.

And although viewers watched for a total of 62 million hours on Netflix in the first half of 2023, the children’s cartoon appealed to many more viewers in its first two seasons. Netflix released the numbers after criticism for a lack of transparency in how shows perform.

However, critics analyzed what went wrong with Meghan’s and Harry’s highly anticipated documentary series. And when it comes to comparisons with the Kardashians clan’s reality TV show, several failures emerge, per Forbes.

First, Meghan and Harry ignored the backlash over their “whiny and self-centered approach” to their projects.

And second, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex kept slamming the highly regarded royal family even as the slams escalated. For instance, some critics questioned why Harry insisted on such a slanted narrative in his memoir.

But above all, Meghan and Harry became known as hypocrites. The couple claimed to want privacy.

But then they did all they could to get publicity, whether turning the spotlight on their private happy birthday call to King Charles or rushing to pose for the paparazzi at every event they attended. And that contradiction caused the public to distrust Harry and Meghan.

However, in contrast, the Kardashian family has stayed consistent and authentic in sharing their lives on their reality TV show and in interviews. As a result, fans trust the Keeping Up With The Kardashians clan to keep staying honest.
