Apparently, before the Royal Family welcomes a new member into their fold, a number of background checks are run.
The current Princess of Wales, Catherine, was once subject to these tests. So why didn’t the Palace give Meghan the same treatment?

The Late Queen Didn’t Want To “Jeopardise” Prince Harry’s Happiness
The Sussexes are currently weathering a storm brought about by the revelation that Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas, is facing serious criminal allegations.

So, on the heels of this scandal, a royal insider has come forward to claim that the Palace didn’t carry out background checks on Meghan.
The reason for this is that the Palace was reportedly treading on eggshells at the time in order not to upset Harry.
The late Queen was also ecstatic about the idea of Harry finally settling down, following a number of intense years spent partying and doing drugs.
“The Queen was thrilled Harry had found someone he loved. She saw it as a fresh start, and nobody wanted to jeopardise that happiness,” the insider told Rob Shuter for his Naughty But Nice Substack blog.
While Harry and Meghan were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend and ended up marrying just over a year later, William and Kate met at university and dated for a good ten years.

During that decade, the Royal Family reportedly ran several background checks. Sadly, this same process was not applied to Meghan, according to the insider.
“There is a process. People are checked before they are given access to the Palace, and that isn’t unusual. Catherine went through the process. Meghan never had that same background check,” the insider spilled, adding that there was a “real fear” Harry would get upset if they applied too much pressure on the screening process.
As questions about what the Palace knew regarding Thomas Markle continue, the insider’s claims are attracting renewed attention.
As a result of this alleged laxity, the Royal Family has suffered, and continues to suffer, grave consequences.
“They confused making Harry happy with making sure Meghan was prepared for royal life. Those are two very different things,” the insider added.
Meanwhile, Thomas Markle’s arrest has raised fresh questions about Meghan’s 2019 letter concerning allegations involving her father.
Before any criminal charges were brought against Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, Prince Harry had neglected to meet him.
Yeah, it may be old-fashioned to ask a man for his daughter’s hand in marriage nowadays, but I hope it’s not too old-fashioned to meet him, at the very least.
The family’s strained relationship has been discussed for years, including Thomas Markle’s earlier comments about his estrangement from Meghan and Harry.
Annemarie’s Take
If the Palace really skipped its usual background checks because it was worried about upsetting Harry, that raises some interesting questions. However, an anonymous insider’s claims aren’t proof that Meghan received special treatment or that the late Queen personally made that decision.
