Meghan Markle’s Royal Past Revealed

It looks as though Meghan Markle does have some royal blood after all. The former Hollywood actress, who is soon set to wed Prince Harry in what will most likely be the wedding of the year, is a descended from a very famous Scottish king according to new reports.

Britain’s Daily Record reports that Meghan, who starred on the legal drama Suits for eight years, is a royal after all. Royal biographer Andrew Morton recently discovered that there is a family link between Meghan and the ancient Scottish king Robert the Bruce.

Robert the Bruce was King of Scots from 1306 until his death in 1329. He was also one of the most famous warriors of his generation. He also led Scotland during the First War of Scottish Independence against England. Robert the Bruce fought during his reign to regain Scotland’s place as an independent country and is often regarded as a nation hero.

And now it looks like Meghan Markle’s family history traces back to Robert the Bruce from 25 generations back.
Andrew Morton told the publication, “It is possible to trace a direct line through 25 generations to Robert I of Scotland of Scotland, perhaps the most colourful of all Scottish kings. It is the lineage of Meghan’s gran than can be traced directly to the Scottish royals and more. Through her ancestor Roger Shaw, Meghan’s trickle of blue blood was transported to America.”

He added, “Through Shaw’s family, who originated from Yorkshire, we find the link to royalty. It was the marriage in 1490 of James Shaw to Christina Bruce, the daughter of Sir David Bruce, 6th Baron of Clackmannan, a direct descendant of Robert the Bruce, that sealed the royal connection.”

Andrew also pointed out that Meghan Markle is distantly related to Princess Diana and The Queen Mother, making her and her future husband Prince Harry distant relatives.
