Several members of the Royal Family will be popping in to watch the games with fans at different dates as the sports competition progresses. The Commonwealth Games just got more interesting.

Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games to Get A Boost From the Royals

It seems like it was only yesterday that Queen Elizabeth launched the Queen’s Baton Relay for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Actually, it was on Tuesday, October 5, that the smart Baton left Buckingham Palace to begin its 294 journey throughout the 72 nations and territories that make up the Commonwealth.

The smart baton holds the Queen’s message, which was automatically sealed in the baton by cutting-edge technology. The message will be read on the Opening Ceremony next week on July 28.

The Royal Family’s official website recently shared that several members of the Royal Family will be attending the Birmingham 2022, the XXII Commonwealth Games, between Thursday 28th July and Monday 8th August 2022.

The royals expected to grace the event include the Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal and The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. They will visit the sporting venues, attend a range of sporting fixtures, meet athletes, volunteers, and support staff helping to deliver the Commonwealth Games.

Members Of The Royal Family Will Participate In The Opening Ceremony Of The Commonwealth Games

Even though the Queen won’t attend the Commonwealth Games, her heir Prince Charles and Camilla will be representing her at the Opening Ceremony. The Earl and Countess of Wessex will also be in attendance at the ceremony, “with The Earl attending in his role as Vice-Patron of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF). The Queen and The Earl of Wessex are Patron and Vice-Patron of the CGF respectively.”

The Prince of Wales will deliver a speech at the event, which will take place at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

Ahead of the Opening Ceremony, the Prince of Wales and the Earl and Countess of Wessex will attend Receptions.
