Omid Scobie Says Prince William And Kate’s Children Delayed Them From The Coronation Service

If you are one of those very attentive royal watchers, you probably know that there was a bit of a delay before William, Catherine and kids arrived at the church service. No, it’s not for any reason scandalous. It’s actually something families can totally relate to.

Royal Expert Says Prince William and Princess Catherine Joined the Procession Late

King Charles’ May 6 coronation service took place in a timely manner, with everything almost coming in at exactly the time it was planned to do so. Well, almost. A procession and service that size, and with that many people involved, is bound to have one or two hiccups along the way.

In fact, the coronation went so smoothly that Sussex-sympathetic Omid Scobie couldn’t help praising the flawless service.

Writing for Harper’s Bazaar, Omid wrote, “The room for error was nil. And thankfully, due to the weeks of rehearsals that the royals took part in ahead of the coronation, the day went ahead smoothly.”

The co-author of “Finding Freedom” continued: “In fact, apart from Prince William and Princess Kate joining the procession late (children were to blame, a source tells me), and Camilla’s ladies in attendance — sister Annabel Elliot, and Queen’s companion the Marchioness of Lansdowne — accidentally creating an unfortunate wedgie moment out of her silk Bruce Oldfield dress on the way into the Abbey, very few hitches took place.”

Let’s forget the “unfortunate wedgie moment” and focus on how eagle-eyed fans realized the Waleses somewhat disrupted the service.

How Prince William And Kate Middleton’s Lateness Affected The Procession

According to OK!, the order of service for the ceremony clearly states that “Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales and Prince Louis of Wales arrive at the Great West Door and are conducted to their seats in the Lantern. All remain seated. Their Majesties The King and The Queen arrive at the West Gate. A fanfare is sounded. All stand.”

As we already saw, Kate and William arrived at the church later than the King and Queen, prompting Their Majesties to wait in their carriage. They ended up walking into the Abbey in front of the Waleses.
