Prince Andrew was recently spotted celebrating his 64th birthday low-key by riding a horse. But even that isn’t enough for some people, they’d rather he disappeared entirely from the eyes of the public.
Especially since his disgraceful 2019 Newsnight interview is about to be unearthed and revisited in stark detail by an upcoming Netflix documentary.
Prince Andrew’s Royal Life Declared Damaged Beyond Repair By Royal Expert
While Andrew has been seen with the rest of the family on rare occasions – Christmas Day outing – a royal expert believes that his reputation has been so far damaged as to hold out hope for any kind of image rehabilitation.
As Netflix prepares to release the film that will take the world back to the Duke’s interview with BBC’s Emily Maitlis, royal expert Ingrid Seward has advised the disgraced royal to go live in a cabin somewhere in the woods and out of everybody’s way.
Seward said: “I think that Prince Andrew’s royal life is over because it’s so tainted. It sticks – unless he can find a way of proving his innocence.”
“It’s a really, really unpleasant sticker he’s got on him. I think it would be very difficult. I think he should just remove himself and go and live in Canada. He’s far too near it all. It must be so miserable being a prisoner, albeit in the most beautiful house.” “Why doesn’t he just say ‘I’m going to go and live in Canada in a cabin in the woods?'”
How Netflix’s “Scoop” Could Further Leave Prince Andrew’s Reputation In Tatters
In February last year, Netflix confirmed that Gillian Anderson and Billie Piper will play the lead roles in “Scoop,” which revolves around Andrew’s interview with Newsnight on his association with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Declared the news interview of the decade, “Scoop” will take viewers into what went on behind-the-scenes as Andrew prepared to defend himself against Virginia Giuffre’s accusations.
While Gilian is set to play Maitlis, Billie will portray Sam McAllister, who is more famously known for orchestrating the whole interview.
The role of Prince Andrew falls to Rufus Sewell, who is known for such roles as “The Holiday” and “A Knight’s Tale.” Fans might also recognize him from the TV shows “The Diplomat” and “The Man in the High Castle.”
This is a time in Andrew’s life he’d least wish to see adapted for the screen, but I doubt what he wants came into consideration. Shortly after the interview, Andrew was forced to step down as a senior royal.
