A single picture from the funeral of the Duchess of Kent may, in a very indirect way, explain the story of Prince Andrew’s fall from grace. Read on to find out what a royal family commentator had to say about it.
The Photo At The Funeral
The photograph, showing a short interaction between the disgraced Duke of York and the Prince and Princess of Wales, allegedly prompted an angry reaction from Prince William. Furthermore, it may have potentially kickstarted the process that led to Andrew’s titles being revoked.
Royal commentator Neil Sean gave his opinion on the matter during his Daily News Headlines vlog on Friday night. Sean mentioned that an “excellent source” communicated that a strict agreement was allegedly in place for the funeral beforehand.

Additionally, he claimed that Andrew and Sarah Ferguson were only allowed to attend the funeral rites if they promised to “keep well away from the Prince and Princess of Wales.”
The alleged reasoning was simple. Sean said that William “cannot abide to be in the same space” with his uncle and also wanted to avoid a media spectacle.
Allegedly, Andrew disregarded the instruction. As the families were leaving, the Duke apparently took the opportunity to approach William and Catherine. Observers of the interaction noted William’s short answers, which clearly showed his unhappiness.
A Planned Move By Andrew?
Sean suggested this was a carefully planned move b y the King’s brother. He opined that Andrew considered a public platform his best way to “break the ice” where William “couldn’t hit back.”

Unfortunately for Andrew, the plan allegedly backfired. William immediately saw the media circus forming. Notably, the resulting photographs provided the very negative publicity he sought to avoid.
Naturally, it is not beyond belief that the incident gave William the power to “accelerate the situation.” After all, the subsequent dropping of Prince Andrew’s titles quickly became headline news.
Unity Is No Longer Everything
The entire episode points to a painful reality for the former Duke. Within the monarchy, unity is allegedly everything. Therefore, Andrew’s alleged refusal to stay in the background demonstrated a profound break from this principle.
It seems unlikely the public will see much of Prince Andrew on the palace balcony, though he might attend family events in the future. However, the conditions for his attendance could be much stricter. In Sean’s opinion, one more alleged mistake in front of the cameras will be the last time.
