Last month, Giuffre’s lawyers filed a civil lawsuit against the disgraced Prince, seeking unrevealed amount of money in damages.
A little while after the lawsuit was filed, the Duke went into hiding at Balmoral Castle and remained there to avoid being legally served his court papers, even when his daughter Beatrice gave birth on Saturday.
Now, Prince Andrew and his legal team are readjusting their position, and instead of laying low, they’re reportedly choosing to fight back head on.
Prince Andrew Has Now Been Served, Legal Team Reveals
After an infuriating game of hiding behind the walls of Balmoral Castle to avoid being officially notified of the ongoing lawsuit, Prince Andrew’s legal team has finally revealed that he has indeed received his court papers. He has now until October 29 to respond.
A source with inside knowledge of the proceedings told the Mail on Sunday: “The decision to bring in high-profile [US lawyer] Andrew Brettler to fight the civil case marks a significant turning point in approach, and the US team will be looking to robustly engage and challenge the claims from Mrs Giuffre in a bid to provide the Duke with a platform to finally clear his name.”
“They will be looking to examine and dismantle the claims one by one,” the insider further revealed.
Prince Andrew Called On To Relinquish His HRH Title As Lawsuit Continues
The news that Prince Andrew is choosing to submit to the court case is coming on the heels of famous biographer Nigel Cawthorne, author of “Prince Andrew: Epstein, Maxwell And The Palace”, calling on Andrew to relinquish his HRH title while the case proceeds.
“Andrew is supposed to be an officer and a gentleman, so he should do the decent thing and give up his HRH title,” said Mr Cawthorne. “Harry and Meghan had to stop using their HRH status and they haven’t been accused of anything. But in keeping his titles and his military roles, the Queen has been tainted by the accusations.”
Previously, several attempts to serve Prince Andrew had been made, including sending a corporate investigator to the gates of Royal Lodge. It was later revealed that the security guards had been “primed” not to accept the court papers.
