Former Prince Andrew had a very bad year so far, but it might get even worse for him in the near future. Read on for new details that emerged recently.

A Fraught Retirement

While the Epstein File drop didn’t land Andrew in prison for sexual violations, it did see him arrested on charges of possible misconduct in public office. That came when he allegedly shared sensitive information with Epstein.

Of course, pesky pics also keep arriving of him looking rather dodgy. And then, the bathrobe photos added a new layer to just how friendly the two men were.

Well, it now seems that the not-very-restful retirement of King Charles’ brother might face more trouble. Allegedly, the police consider widening their investigation to include corruption charges.

Police Action While iran War Continues

The news about extended investigations arrived via Sky News Australia this weekend. During the conversation, first, the topic stuck on Iran, the price of gas, and travel inconvenience.

Additionally, the entire global focus seems distracted by the Iran war, so folks mainly miss out on fun stories or Andrew’s issues. However, the conversation hooked into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor feeling some relief about that.

Happy About The Distraction?

“One person is probably quite happy that there’s a war going on in Iran would be Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor,” host Steve Price opined.

Still, while a huge distraction happened, it seems that the UK police keep their eyes on the former working member of the royal family. In fact, they seem to be beavering away at him.

Status of Investigations

During the video coverage, correspondent Sophie Elsworth explained more about what’s going down for former Prince Andrew in recent days. First, she confirmed that Andrew remains under investigation for that “suspicion of alleged misconduct in public office.”

Well, it hasn’t gone away, and in fact seems ready to become more serious. According to the report, police expand their investigation even more.

“Now they’re looking at extending this to potential corruption charges which links to bribery,” Elsworth said.

Why Is It Important?

Why does that matter? Here’s the rub for the former Duke of York: Corruption charges carry a different angle because they point beyond just personal conduct. Instead, it adds an element of abuse of a position of influence and public trust.

Other news arrived that, allegedly, authorities are “trolling through his numerous properties here in the UK for days on end.” Hmm, that certainly sounds like the stakes increased a lot. After all, this sounds very much like a big step that escalates everything.

Still In Denial?

Of course, everyone who follows the royal family knows that Prince Andrew always denied any wrongdoing. Notably, Elsworth reminded folks about that. She added, “I must stress Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has always denied any wrongdoing in his time whether related to any of these allegations leveled at him.”

Well, he can deny until the cows come home as far as critics are concerned. However, that doesn’t mean King Charles and the other senior royals sit back dusting off their hands on a PR job well done.

Elsworth added, “There is a lot of nervousness around Buckingham Palace of what lies ahead because this is a story that they cannot kick.”

Actually, it’s a serious factor because historically, the royals did rather well navigating scandals.

Keeping A Low Profile

Next, the panel discussed how the former prince pretty much disappeared from public view. He’s been “keeping a very low profile,” and “we haven’t seen or heard from him for quite some time.”

And then, Elsworth suggested that while he might hope for some “peace and quiet” in his new Marsh Farm home at Sandringham, it might be hard to come by. After all, investigations could go on for some time to come.

A Royal In Court?

“Could he actually end up in court?” Steve Price wondered. In her response, Elsworth seemed cautious, noting:,“Who knows?”

But then, she also explained why:

I would be very careful with my words to say that they will, but when they’re trolling through his numerous properties here in the UK for days on end, they’ve got multiple police forces looking at him. It doesn’t look great.

And if it does happen? If Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor ends up in, say, Westminster Magistrates’ Court in central London? “Can you imagine the circus that’s going to surround that?”

A Way To Go Yet

Actually, it’s important for royal family fans and journalists to stay in their lane for now. After all, Andrew remains in the realm of allegations and no formal charges have yet been laid against him.

Potentially, it could take a long time. Hopefully, by then, the Iran war distraction will be over and everyone can get their lives back. Well, except for Andrew, who might find more spotlights focused on him than ever before.
