Royal Family News: Prince Andrew’s Legal Scandal Has Chilling Effect on Monarchy Legacy?

Prince AndrewBritish royal family news reveals the stunning news that the world and defendant Prince Andrew will have to wait even longer to find out a crucial decision in his sex abuse case. Today was supposed to be the day that the judge in the case handed down a key ruling but he deferred until, “pretty soon.”

Royal Family News – What Will Happen In Prince Andrew’s Lawsuit?

According to the Daily Mail, “Judge Lewis Kaplan heard arguments Tuesday morning in Virginia Roberts Giuffre’s case against the Duke of York. The judge said he will rule on whether to dismiss Giuffre’s case against Andrew ‘pretty soon.’” That likely was not the ruling the prince’s team wanted to hear.

Prince Andrew’s lawyers argued that a $500,000 deal between Giuffre and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein shields the duke from liability, as she sues him for alleged sexual assault when she was a teenager.”

Andrew was a friend of dead convicted pedophile Epstein, and his “madame” Ghislaine Maxwell. Last week Maxwell was found guilty of similar charges and could face the prospect of dying in prison when she is sentenced. Andrew would wish to avoid a similar fate.

Royal Family News – Will Andrew Be Prosecuted?

Judge Lewis Kaplan held the case via video call. The call came a day after the contested document was made public at the request of Prince Andrew’s legal team. It showed the terms of a payout from Epstein, who was found dead in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial, to Giuffre. It was dated 2009 and agreed to, “release, acquit, satisfy, and forever discharge’ Epstein and ‘any other person or entity who could have been included as a potential defendant.’” Andrew’s legal team was hoping that the document would release him from the case.

Giuffre’s lawyer David Boies disagreed, stating that Andrew could not be a, “potential defendant,” for two reasons.

Royal Family News – How Will Andrew’s Case Turn Out?

He argued that, “The only claim that is asserted that was made in Florida in the 2009 action that covered Prince Andrew was the third count which was to transport somebody for the purpose of illegal sexual activity. There is no allegation that Prince Andrew was the person transporting. There is no allegation that Prince Andrew fell into the category of people who were doing the trafficking. He was somebody to whom the girls were trafficked.”

The case has been used to claim that the monarchy has been irreparably tarnished. What is the veracity of the claim? The sordid case is not over but experts agree that its mere existence has cast a long shadow over the monarchy.
