Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles Launch New Public Campaign During Coronavirus Pandemic

This week the heir to the British throne asked the citizens of the UK to take on a task that he thinks is unglamorous himself – picking up fruits and vegetables in order to help farmers.

In an effort to promote the UK government’s Pick For Britain campaign, which is looking to recruit students or the unemployed, Prince Charles filmed a short message and posted it on the official Clarence House social media pages. The future King of England said, “At this time of great uncertainty, many of our normal routines and regular patterns of life are being challenged. If we are to harvest British fruit and vegetables this year, we need an army of people to help.”

Nothing that many furloughed workers and students might not be so eager in helping out with this cause and need, Prince Charles added that this line of agricultural work will be of the utmost importance in the coming months.

He added, “Many thousands of people will be needed to bring in the crops. It will be hard graft but is hugely important if we are to avoid the growing crops going to waste.”

British Royal News: UK Agricultural Sector Needs Help

The UK government says that they are going to need all the help they can get to help fill the void from the estimated 70,000 seasonal agricultural workers who come to the UK each year.
