Prince Charles Is Named Patron Of The Jewish Lads’ And Girls’ Brigade

At age 71 Prince Charles is one of the older members of the British royal family, and also one of its hardest working members. Last December 2019 he hosted young members of the Jewish Lads’ and Girls’ Brigade (JLGB) at Buckingham Palace and he has just been named as a patron for the group.

Neil Martin, the organization’s chief executive, is thrilled to have Charles on board as a patron, calling it an “absolute honor.”

The CEO said, “It’s an absolute honor to welcome HRH the Prince of Wales as our patron because he has always been a tremendous believer in the power of young people to support and lead their communities for the betterment of British society and a brighter tomorrow.”

During the lockdown, the group has been running virtual programs to support children, young people, and their families.

He added, “We’re absolutely thrilled that HRH has agreed to be patron, taking on this position during our historic anniversary year, which of course rightly pays homage to the incredible role JLGB has played over the past 125 years in society, but also shows absolute faith in the future contributions the next generation of young British Jews are yet to make.”

JLGB’s president, Lord Levy, announced that the group is, “delighted and honored to have the recognition and support,” of the prince, “evermore so during these uncertain times.”

He went on to recognize the youth for showing, “true leadership, helping to create new opportunities that better reflect real-world realities,” in recent months.

Levy concluded, “There is no more significant a way to start a new era than with HRH the Prince of Wales as our new patron, who cares and helps so much with the youth of our country. We feel confident that he will help us all continue in our mission to grow and develop JLGB for the next generation.”

The group is debuting JLGB Fuel this week, a centralized planning system that will serve the organization, “by uniting and amplifying its activities across the UK.”

The group has been hosting online events during lockdown but next month it aims to get back to holding local weekly programs. Additionally, they are debuting a redesigned website and online system that will make it easier for new members to join.
