Prince Charles Tests Positive For Coronavirus: British Royal Family Alerted Over New Covid-19 Scare
While Prince Charles has been infected with the virus, his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles has tested negative. The latest statistics show that there are over 436,420 reported cases in over 150 countries, with a death toll of 19,638. That number is expected to rise in the coming weeks, especially as more people are accessing tests. In the UK, there have been 8,077 cases and 422 deaths so far.
Prince Charles’ Clarence House office says that he is so far doing fine and that both he and Camilla Parker-Bowles are keeping their distancing at their home Burnham on the Balmoral Estate in Scotland. However, it is still unknown how the prince caught the virus, seeing how he carried out a number of royal engagements and public appearances prior to the WHO making the coronavirus a global pandemic. During his last week of appearances though Prince Charles was seen welcoming people with namaste rather than a handshake.
British Royal News: Prince Charles Alerts Queen Elizabeth About The News
“He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual,” the prince’s office said. “It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”
It’s also been reported that Prince Charles has spoken to both Queen Elizabeth and Prince William and that the rest of the British royal family has been told about his condition, too. The Queen is currently self-isolating at Windsor Castle while the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are at home with their family. Furthermore, they are not expected to make any public appearances in the coming weeks.
