Royal Family News: Princes William and Charles Clash Over Giving Out Private Information

British royal family news shows that Prince William and Prince Charles are the next in line to ascend the throne, following the reign of 96-year old Queen Elizabeth. Charles will follow his mother, and his son will follow him. The queen celebrated 70 years as monarch with a Platinum Jubilee in June, and as a sign of things to come she has slowly been handing off more responsibilities to her heirs.

Now one royal expert is spilling the dish that the two men may not see eye to eye on how the monarchy should be run.

Who is the royal expert claiming that the princes have different views about sharing private information about the royal family? The expert is Daily Express royal correspondent Richard Palmer. He talked to the Royal Round-Up on how the two may differ on the definition of private information. “Private basically just means ‘we don’t want the press to know about that,” he said. “And it’s a catch-all phrase. Sometimes members of the royal family will go on trips that have been possibly not funded by the taxpayer but funded by the queen.”

“And they will have taxpayer-funded police officers with them. They will publicize what they’re doing but they won’t invite the media along because, well, it’s a private trip.”

What Is A Private Trip?

He went on to say, “I think if you speak to people who work for the royal household, they will say that what is private and what isn’t often depends on the individual members of the royal family.”

Given that perspective, how do Prince William and Charles differ on their take on the meaning of the word private? Comparing Charles and William, Palmer said: “I think Prince Charles and Camilla are pretty relaxed about quite a lot of things that others think.”

That isn’t the case for the younger prince according to Palmer. He said that the Duke of Cambridge is, “a control freak.”

According to him, William is fiercely protective, “about what he wants the public to know about his life and what he doesn’t. They just all have varying degrees of what they think is right for the public to know,” Palmer added.

In which case, that would explain William’s reported anger over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s habit of throwing royal dirty laundry up in the air for all to see.
