Prince George And Princess Charlotte Will Soon Be Split Up—Here’s Why

Prince George And Princess Charlotte Will Soon Be Split Up—Here’s WhyBritish royal family news divulges that William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales are bound by royal duty and royal rules. Yet they were flagrant regarding royal travel with their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

We normally wouldn’t expect William and Kate to break the rules, but that’s exactly what happened stretching all the way back to 2014. Keep reading to discover how the royal couple snubbed protocol and went their own way—several times!

Prince William – Broke The Rules

According to Hello! there is an “unwritten rule that two heirs shouldn’t travel on the same flight but Prince William and Prince George travelled together to Australia in 2014, Canada in 2016 and Germany and Poland in 2017.”

But while William broke with tradition, he was careful to ask his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth for her blessing, which she gave. She also permitted George to travel with William and Kate on their visit to Australia and New Zealand.

But the winds of change are in the air and things could be about to “change for 11-year-old George in the next year, and he may no longer travel with his parents and younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.”

Royal Family News – Royal Protocol Dictates Travel Plans

Last year former royal pilot Graham Laurie told HELLO!’s A Right Royal Podcast that when William turned 12, he began travelling in a different aircraft to his family.

According to Graham: “Speaking about transporting Charles, Diana, William and Harry on family trips the ones I did [holiday flights] mainly were the ones when the Wales’ went to the Mediterranean.”

He found it interesting that Diana, Prince William and Prince Harry traveled together given the prevailing royal protocol. But after William turned 12 “he had to have a separate aircraft and we could only fly all four together when they were young with the written permission of Her Majesty.”
He added that “Nowadays, for instance, the King can’t fly with the Prince of Wales.”

Royal Family News: Travel Protocol Within the Monarchy

So why was 12 the magic number for William to begin traveling alone? Graham thinks that before then “they probably thought it will be too much for him travelling on his own. But nevertheless, that’s what they did.”

When asked if this rule would apply to today’s royals, with Prince William and Prince George, Graham said: “I know the King is trying to cut down cost and is aware of travel, but I think the safety side is still paramount.”

Royal Family News – Royal Security Is Tight

Graham told an interesting tale about security: “Our aircraft were painted red, white and blue… but they changed the colour scheme in 2002 to look more like a normal airliner.”

These days the Wales family has not been traveling much, due to Princess Catherine’s cancer diagnosis and treatment this year.
