Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Are Losing Out On Branding Themselves As A Power Couple

When Prince Harry and Meghan left the Royal Family, they were full of promises and, at the height of that fame, grabbed multi-million dollar deals with both Spotify and Netflix. Since then, Meghan has gone on to release a children’s book; Harry is working on a memoir and has worked on a mental health docuseries with Oprah Winfrey, but nothing is going much for them in the way of establishing their prowess in Hollywood.

The couple has reportedly tried to brand themselves as philanthropists and global leaders, a feat that is not going as smoothly as planned.

Some are speculating that their attempt to visit the UK this September stems from their desire to connect with their royal roots, as well as get content for their Netflix docuseries, which was originally supposed to revolve around the Invictus Games and its veterans.

Harry And Meghan Are Failing To Deliver Meaningful Content For Netflix

It’s been over 700 days since the Sussexes signed the multi-million dollar contract with Netflix, said to be worth $100 million, and yet none of their proposed projects has been released.

According to inside details, “Heart of Invictus”, which was announced last year, has been modified in favor of capturing the Sussexes as they engage in their philanthropic works.

Apart from these deals, Harry has signed contracts with Silicone Valley life coaching company BetterUp and with fintech asset manager Ethic. He’s appeared on paid ads and he’s spoken at events to promote the works of the companies he’s working for.

Meghan’s rise has been somewhat less successful, and even though it’s rumored that she’s considering a career in politics, she is yet to publicly acknowledge it.

Daniela Elser for News.com.au commented: “Harry and Meghan have proven totally unsuccessful at making themselves matter in the corridors of power in Washington, New York, Silicon Valley or Los Angeles.”

Meghan’s cartoon series “Pearl” could not survive the wave of cutbacks Netflix made following a £165 billion loss in value this year.

Elser continued in her column: “More than 30 months have passed since Harry and Meghan absconded from a life of stifling royal duty for the greener pastures of California and that lucrative embrace of corporate America.

“More importantly for their Netflix and Spotify paymasters, they have failed to genuinely set themselves up as leading voices of the day.”

Harry And Meghan’s Fame Has “Dulled” As Their Connections to the RF Grows Weaker

Elser believes that the Sussexes could still make it in Hollywood as they dreamed when they relocated to California, but failure to deliver meaningful and thrilling contents will make it hard for them to get new contracts.

“The magic dust of their royalty has largely dulled in the last two years and the novelty factor has worn off.

“So too has their deal-making momentum seemed to have waned with them not having announced any other venture since July 2021 last year when it was revealed Harry was busy working on a memoir.”
