Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Branded As A PR Disaster For The Royals

Did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just have the worst summer on record for the royal family? That’s what a lot of critics seem to think. As a matter of fact, there’s a new report that suggests the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been nothing more than a PR disaster for the royals. Things are so bad that are a lot of people are calling them out for their behavior.

A Royal Disaster

Apparently, the problem is the fact that Meghan Markle seems to be in charge of what is going on behind the scenes. Or at least that’s what some critics believe. Both Harry and Meghan have gotten a lot of criticism for taking several trips on private jets this past month even though they are supposed to be celebrity “eco-warriors.” Meghan Markle also skipped a trip to see Queen Elizabeth at Balmoral Castle, yet managed to make a trip across the pond to see her pal Serena Williams play in the US Open this past week.

If that weren’t enough, there has also been a lot of side-eye towards Meghan Markle’s role as a guest editor for the British version of Vogue Magazine. Sources say that the Duchess of Sussex was looking to make a lot of headlines with the move, for better or for worse. Unfortunately, a lot of people weren’t impressed with her efforts.

Meghan Markle As A Minor Operator

“[The couple’s recent behavior is] a public relations disaster for Buckingham Palace, who are having a hard time reining them in,” Lady Colin Campbell, author of several books about the royals, told Page Six. “Meghan is clearly calling the shots, but she’s a minor operator who is playing in the big leagues and mucking it up in the most catastrophic fashion.”

As far as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s private yet trips, the prince said that he sometimes chooses to do so in order to protect his family. He also pointed out that even though their recent jaunts to Ibiza and the South of France have gotten a lot of attention, he flies commercial 99 percent of the time.

No One Is Perfect

“We can all do better and while no one is perfect, we all have a responsibility for our own individual impact,” Harry said during a travel conference in Amsterdam. “The question is what we do to balance it out.”

So far Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not made any comments about the criticism they’ve received from the press.
