The Oprah 2021 interview didn’t help matters either. Two years on and the fires of Megxit are yet to be entirely extinguished. Royal writer Tina Brown believes it could have been handled a better way.
Tina Brown Says Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Have A Right To Leave But Disagrees On How It Was Handled
For Tina Brown, the ex-senior royals leaving their position in the Monarchy for a life in the States is a choice she supports. But who wouldn’t? We all have a right to leave any environment we don’t find conducive for ourselves, don’t we? Harry and Meghan are no exception.
But perhaps leaving a job that’s wrong for you and turning back to criticize others who didn’t follow in your footsteps is what’s bothering people.
I particularly remember when Harry said that he feels sorry for his father and brother because they are “trapped”. I’m pretty sure if Prince William does feel “trapped”, he’d speak up. He is 40 after all.
Since their exit, Harry and Meghan’s means of earning a living have been to sell tidbits of royal news to the tabloids. Yes, there was a children’s book and a podcast episode or two that didn’t criticize the royals, but their works have been mostly about their experience within the royal fold.
“I think they are in a really tough spot now, actually,” the ex-Vanity editor, Tina Brown said during a lecture at City, University of London, per a report by Express.
“I feel for Harry, because he’s made a mistake in the way he did his exit. I don’t think it was wrong necessarily the decision to leave, and certainly it wasn’t wrong to marry the woman he was in love with.
“It’s just the way they handled it that was so unfortunate,” Brown added.
