Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Officially Leave The Royal Family March 2020

There has been plenty in the news about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently and now it’s official. Mexit will happen at the end of March.

The term “Duke and Duchess of Sussex” will soon no longer apply, as the Queen has banned Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from using the royal title. They will officially leave the royal family at the end of March and will be independent for a period of one year, after which they will reevaluate their situation.

MSN recently reported the news of the currently royal couple officially leaving the British royal family at the end of March. They will leave their roles as we currently know them and will be dropping their royal branding.

This will start their year of transition and becoming independent from Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family. Following that year, the couple will reevaluate their position and decide whether they are happy with their new lives.

So far, Harry and Meghan appear to be having fun in Vancouver and enjoying their new, independent lives with baby Archie. While they will keep their HRH status, they will be unable to use it. The question is whether they can keep calling themselves royals.

The couple has a huge following on Instagram with the account name @sussexroyal, accompanied by an HRH logo. At today’s date, the account is captioned “The official Instagram account of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

Harry and Meghan have trademarked the name “sussexroyal” and use it on their website. The couple has also trademarked a number of items, including bandannas and notebooks, which makes it look like merchandise could eventually be sold under that brand name. However, the Queen is unlikely to allow that. She is banning them from using that name, as they are leaving the royal family and are not entitled to use it.

Prince Harry and Meghan do still have some royal duties

The couple will still have some royal duties, including Prince Harry and the Invictus Games at the end of February. They are also going to be involved in commonwealth activities and events. Harry is also, of course, still currently sixth in line for the throne.

Obviously, the Queen has to put the crown first and she has been very fair to Prince Harry and Meghan under the circumstances.

From the end of March, Harry and Meghan will have their year in Vancouver and see how things go. At the end of March 2021, their situation with the royal family will be reevaluated to see what happens next.
