In 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their roles as senior royals and made a big fuss over it through various TV appearances, podcast interviews, and even via books.
However, even though they’re determined to carve out a different path for themselves outside of the shadow of the Royal Family, they have refrained from disposing of every association with the British institution.
Apart from being the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the couple have accepted HRH titles for their children. It is said they made the decision to do this after consulting Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice. The idea is to basically let their children decide what they want.

“Harry and Meghan are very, very keen to cling onto those royal titles,” royal expert Neil Sean said, “After much deliberation, Meghan decided that the titles would be a good thing, not just for her but for both her children too.”
He added: “Meghan became very friendly with senior members of the monarchy, predominantly Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
After this, Meghan realised how useful a title can be, particularly when you want to move in the correct circles. That is the reason why they want to clutch hold of titles.”
Speaking of moving in the right crowds, the couple has so much incorporated the titles into their brand that they’re inseparable.
This has also netted them speaking appearances, and a number of other lucrative deals that they’ve enjoyed in the last few years. Also, it sounds more posh being introduced as the The Duchess of Sussex than Meghan Markle, don’t you think?

Another source further explained how the titles would specifically benefit the Sussex children when they’ve come of age.
“Harry and Meghan understood that keeping the titles would benefit the children in more than just name,” the source said.
“It’s not about status alone – it’s about access, opportunities, and giving Archie and Lilibet a clear position within the royal structure if they need it in the future.”
