Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have had quite a popular and controversial year: from their explosive Oprah interview to the recent birth of their daughter. Formerly at odds with the royal family and its members, they’re now embracing communication with the members of the royal family.
Reportedly, Queen Elizabeth was the first to hear of the Sussexes’ successful delivery of their second child. The monarch also got to meet the newborn via a video call immediately after the couple brought their baby home from the hospital. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter is named after the Queen’s childhood nickname Lilibet and Harry’s late mother Princess Diana.
Royal experts called the couple’s decision to name their baby after the Queen an olive branch and a way for them to get back into the royal family’s good books.
After months of slamming the royal family and calling them an institution that traps people and passes on generational pain through their ways of life, the couple is reportedly reconsidering their stance.
Royal Family Gets A Glimpse At Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Newborn Daughter
On Sunday, June 4, a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that the couple welcomed their daughter Friday, June 6. The couple was very private about the birth of their daughter, and according to a close friend of theirs, they don’t want to rush into doing press interviews like they did when they were still a part of the royal family.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven’t even released pictures of their new baby to the public, but according to a report by ET, they shared their daughter’s pictures in a private WhatsApp chat group where the royals meet.
It signals that the proud parents are willing to maintain a cordial relationship with the members of the royal family, at least for this time. This is coming just after Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, accused the couple of uttering contradictory comments during their famous Oprah interview. The 76-year-old man hasn’t spoken to his daughter in 3 years and in the interview, he compared his relationship with his daughter to the one Prince Charles currently has with his son Harry. Thomas Markle, who is yet to meet the members of the royal family, expressed his enthusiasm to meet Prince Charles as he believes a future monarch is a likable person.
“Now they’re alone in a huge house they could probably accommodate 20 people in,” he said of his daughter and her husband. “And it’s just the four of them. But I don’t think they’re going to have relatives over for a barbecue tomorrow, or next week, or next month,” Thomas Markle told “60 Minutes Australia” on Sunday.
