The Sussex brand is kicking this year off in high gear with the news that they’re not only developing a scripted show for Netflix, but several unscripted ones.

Meghan is certainly not joking when she teased that more exciting things are on their way at the Variety’s power of women event last year. For now, let’s talk about the love story Harry and Meghan are developing for Netflix.

Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Shares the Projects Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Is Working On For Netflix

Harry and Meghan may have lost their Spotify deal, and it was a big blow, but their multi-million dollar Netflix deal is still ongoing and this time, the couple are turning the focus away from their royal struggles and connections to other interesting entertainment topics. Try love.

Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria confirmed: “They have a couple of unscripted things they’re working on with Brandon [Reigg].”

“And they actually have like a bunch of development, they have a movie in development, a [scripted] series that they’re working on. So all very early development, with a movie, a TV show and a couple of unscripted shows,” she explained. “But yeah, the movie’s great.”

For now, that’s all Bela can tell us about Archewell’s upcoming projects. We’ll just have to wait and see their manifestations, and hope they don’t get axed like Meghan’s “Pearl” was.

Speaking of the movie that’s great, Archewell has acquired the rights to produce Carley Fortune’s “Meet Me By the Lake.” The news of the acquisition was first shared in August 2023, when Penguin Random House released a statement on it.

The author of the bestselling novel, Carley Fortune, also shared her joy to have Netflix and Archewell working hand in hand to bring her work to live on the big screen.

The story follows Fern Brookbanks, who is 32 and running her mother’s lakeside resort. However, as complicated as life was at that time, it became more so when an old flame resurfaced, and no, I don’t mean an ex.

The official synopsis reads: “Fern Brookbanks has wasted far too much of her adult life thinking about Will Baxter. She spent just twenty-four hours in her early twenties with the aggravatingly attractive, idealistic artist, a chance encounter that spiraled into a daylong adventure in Toronto. The timing was wrong, but their connection was undeniable: they shared every secret, every dream, and made a pact to meet one year later. Fern showed up. Will didn’t.”

It continued, “At thirty-two, Fern’s life doesn’t look at all how she once imagined it would. Instead of living in the city, Fern’s back home, running her mother’s Muskoka lakeside resort—something she vowed never to do. The place is in disarray, her ex-boyfriend’s the manager, and Fern doesn’t know where to begin.”

The synopsis then tells us that just when everything is spiraling out of control for Fern, Will arrives in the form of a lifeline. But he’s not exactly the same man she met all those years ago.

“Will is hiding something, and Fern’s not sure she wants to know what it is. But ten years ago, Will Baxter rescued Fern. Can she do the same for him?”
