Omid Scobie is Harpers Bazaar’s royal editor, who has followed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since their first photoshoot as a couple during 2017. He feels the royal couple had to make a very hard decision to step down as senior members of the royal family. However, Scobie says they had no other choice.

Duke And Duchess Of Sussex ‘Forced Out’

According to Omid Scobie, he has followed Meghan and Prince Harry’s life closely since he witnessed that first photoshoot in 2017. He has been involved and has reported on the royal couple’s numerous royal engagements since then, right up to Meghan’s tearful farewell at Buckingham Palace this week.

Scobie claims Meghan and Prince Harry had never expected to have to make a departure of this nature. He truly believes they were forced to do so.

Scobie wrote: “To say they were crushed is an understatement,” as they realized Megxit was the next and only step for them to take. According to him, the decision they made was one they didn’t feel was necessary. However, even during Meghan’s pregnancy, they were left with no other choice. They had to “create their own change after being left to fend for themselves.”

Prince Harry Struggled With Leaving

According to Omid, Meghan and Harry knew something had to change. However, they also didn’t want to stop supporting the Queen. Scobie wonders if things would have gone differently if one or two members of the royal family had stood up for them during this difficult time.

It was on January 8 that Harry and Meghan shocked their families and the world by announcing their imminent departure as senior members of the royal family. Reportedly, on Monday, Meghan left to head back to Canada, while Harry stayed in the UK after the Commonwealth Day Service.

Scobie claims that Prince Harry and Meghan are still “very much hurting” from their decision to leave the royal family. However, he also said Harry is still reeling from the fact he had to give up his military honors. Harry had served in the British army for 10 years and according to Scobie, this has caused a “wound that will take time to heal.”

Kate Middleton Misses Prince Harry

These claims by Omid Scobie come at a time when a source close to the palace said that Kate Middleton, Prince William’s wife, is especially struggling with Prince Harry’s exit. According to the source, the Duchess of Cambridge is feeling “very sad” following Harry and Meghan’s last royal appearance before stepping down.

Scobie calls this a dark ending “for a couple who only ever wanted to focus on their work and bring good to the world.” He added, “it seems like an unnecessarily cruel ending to their royal lives.”

He concluded by saying the couple has had to give up roles they are incredibly proud of, after having sacrificed so much to get there.
