Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Visit With The Queen Was Short And Sweet

Prince Harry And Meghan's First Visit With The Queen Was Short And SweetAlthough reports insist that Queen Elizabeth II spent much of Saturday, June 4, 2022, with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children at Frogmore Cottage to celebrate Lilibet Diana’s first birthday, it turns out their visit when the Sussexes first arrived was extremely brief indeed.

A Quick Meeting With Her Majesty

When Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet first arrived in the UK on June 2, the day before the queen’s Platinum Jubilee festivities were set to begin, the queen did send a car to the airport to quickly shuttle the family to Windsor Castle where Queen Elizabeth met her namesake for the first time. Lilibet was born in California where her parents now live and where her mother is from, but she is named for the 96-year-old queen, whose nickname since childhood has been Lilibet.

However, according to The Sun, that meeting didn’t last much more than 15 minutes and wasn’t as warm as royal watchers might have believed.

“It was a quick in and out job. It was all quite formal,” a source told The Sun.

This was apparently exactly what The Firm and Meghan and Harry wanted, as they didn’t make the trip to overshadow his grandmother. Instead, they were there to celebrate her and her 70 years as England’s queen, making her the longest-reigning monarch in British history. In fact, they jetted back to Southern California on Sunday before the Jubilee even ended.

Harry And Meghan Remained Positive

Despite that brief first visit with the queen, the Sussexes were reportedly quite happy with the way things turned out.

“Their trip was a whirlwind and jam-packed from the moment they landed but it all went beautifully,” a royal insider told Hollywood Life. “Their whole aim was to show the Queen their love and respect, and of course introducing her to Lili for the first time was a big highlight. Archie and Lili totally charmed her, getting to see her with them made the whole trip worth it.”

However, there is some talk that Harry and Meghan wanted their own photographer to capture the queen meeting her great-granddaughter for the first time. They were told they could not and had no choice but to agree to the terms of the visit. The world still got to see photos of Lilibet on her birthday, showing she looks like both of her parents and seems to have inherited Harry’s red hair.
