Prince Harry And Meghan Pay Hefty Sum In Taxes For Their Multi-Million Dollar Montecito Mansion

Good things come at a steep price, and for Harry and Meghan, their dream home comes with a £100,000 tax bill. The couple acquired the seven-bed and 15-bathroom property in 2020 for the sum of $14.5 million (£11million).

A year later, they welcomed their daughter Lilibet. In their bid to protect their young children from the media, the couple do their best to film and plan events outside of the property.

Life in Montecito is good, if you’ve got £100k to pay in property taxes every year. This is outside of the money that the house will probably require for its annual maintenance.

However, with their Netflix contract, Meghan’s soon-to-be launched lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard, Harry’s memoir and other channels the couple have invested time and money in, paying the cost is probably not a problem.

The price has been steadily rising since the couple moved in four years ago. In 2021, they paid $141,000 (£108,000).

In 2022, Santa Barbara records showed that the bill increased to $144,000 (£110,000). In 2023, the bill was further increased to $146,600 (£112,000), which Harry and Meghan opted to pay for in two installments.

This is coming amid rumors that Harry is planning to make a comeback to the UK to resume his royal activities. The rumors say he reached out to former friends and aides to help him engineer his comeback in an operation allegedly called, “Bring Harry in from the Cold.”

Meghan Markle – Says She’s Entered A “New Chapter” Of Joy

This Sunday, September 8, Meghan made an appearance at Oprah’s bookclub as one of several speakers booked for the event. Harry’s book was also on display in the bookstore in the section “hometowns heroes” at Godmothers bookstore, in Summerland, California.

During her speech, she revealed that she is entering a “chapter of joy.” She said: “I’m looking at this time as my chapter of joy. The more you are able to look at your life and really, truly recognise and be able to be grateful for your life – you have to be grateful for all aspects of it.

She concluded: “My intentionality is to enjoy this chapter and be able to love through every piece of this as best we can.”
