“As we can all feel, the world at this moment seems extraordinarily fragile,” the couple said on Instagram.
“Yet we are confident that every human being has the potential and opportunity to make a difference — as seen now across the globe, in our families, our communities and those on the front line — together we can lift each other up to realise the fullness of that promise,” they added.
Beginning Tuesday, the couple are no longer working members of the British royal family. They will still be known as “the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” However, they have given up their “royal highness” titles and “Sussex Royal” branding. Their website and Instagram account will go inactive.
Life Away from the Palace
Prince Charles, who recently concluded his self-quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19, last saw his son, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, before his diagnosis, during the royal couple’s final tour of duty in Britain earlier this month.
The couple’s decision surprised a lot of people including Queen Elizabeth II when they announced their plan to split their time between Britain and North America. They initially moved to the western Canadian province of British Columbia with their son, Archie. Then, news broke that they now have a home on Los Angeles. The couple still has to confirm or deny the report.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Focus On Family And Charities
Harry and Meghan wants to focus on their family and charities. They also want to launch a non-profit that’s focused on tourism.
A statement from a spokeswoman said, “COVID-19 has presented the world with one of the greatest public health and socio-economic challenges of modern times.”
“It has also forced one of the biggest human behavioural changes in generations. When restrictions related to controlling the pandemic ease, the role of responsible tourism to support communities and destinations around the world will be more important than ever,” it continued.
“The Duke is working closely with each of the Travalyst partners to better understand how this nonprofit organisation can aid in global recovery, especially by supporting communities, wildlife and the environment at the same time,” the statement added.
It seems like their decision may still change since the couple and the royal family have agreed to review their situation after a year.
