Prince Harry And Meghan Will Have To Pay For Their Own Canadian Security

Canadian authorities have been working with the couple’s security arrangements over the past few months, while they spent time in the country. But once they remove themselves from the royal family next month, those arrangements will quickly come to an end, according to a statement issued by the Canadian Office of the Minister of Public Safety.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex choosing to re-locate to Canada on a part-time basis presented our government with a unique and unprecedented set of circumstances,” the statement said, CNN reported.

“The (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) has been engaged with officials in the UK from the very beginning regarding security considerations. As the Uke and Duchess are currently recognized as Internationally Protected Persons, Canada has an obligation to provide security assistance on an as needed basis. At the request of the Metropolitan Police, the RCMP has been providing assistance to the Met since the arrival of the Duke and Duchess to Canada intermittently since November 2019.

The royal source would not comment on the security matters for obvious reasons. Meghan and Harry want to split their time between Canada and the UK when they finish the process of removing themselves from the British Royal Family. Meghan lived in Canada when she filmed the television series, Suits, which she left before marrying Harry in May 2018. Their decision to step back from their senior royal positions led to several crisis talks with members of the royal family.

The couple agreed to a 12-month transition period between March 31 as they get settled into their new lives. Harry returned to the UK this week, as he makes his final public engagements as a royal member. Meghan is said to join him in the next few days.
