King Charles will give his sons Prince Harry and Prince William a chance to reunite at his coronation. But will they take it? Buckingham Palace recently revealed that the Duke of Sussex will travel from California to attend his father’s crowning ceremony on May 6. But the rift between Harry and the rest of the royal family doesn’t seem likely to change, claimed a palace insider. And the source shared that the relationship remains “strained” via People.

As King Charles’ coronation draws closer, an insider predicted that Harry’s presence won’t change his relationship. And the source pointed out that combining the historic coronation with a relationship summit didn’t even seem wise. “I don’t think the coronation and a big conversation can be conflated,” summed up the insider. However, when it comes to blame, some feel that Harry destroyed his relationship with his brother in his memoir, Spare.

For instance, one frequently cited passage describes Harry’s 2019 fight with William. Harry claims that William described Meghan as “difficult,” “rude” and “abrasive.” And Harry accused his brother of becoming a “parrot [of] the press narrative. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out,” Prince Harry wrote in his memoir.

Prince Harry Feels ‘Ball Is In Royal Family’s Court’

The Duke of Sussex has hinted that he feels the royal family should take the lead in mending the rift. And in a recent interview, Prince Harry shared that he wanted to hear from his royal relatives prior to the coronation. “There’s a lot that can happen between now and then. But the door is always open. The ball is in their court,” he claimed. “There’s a lot to be discussed, and I really hope that they’re willing to sit down and talk about it.”

However, another insider revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex received an email about the coronation from King Charles’ office. And that message made it clear that the direct communication Harry wanted from his father would not happen before the coronation. “They didn’t hear from Charles. Harry wanted to hear from his father directly — it’s always through somebody,” explained the source.

But the insider shared that although Charles and Harry did not meet in person, they did enjoy “positive conversations.” And a royal expert offered some insights. “Despite the wounds, it’s his son. And I can’t imagine he wouldn’t want him to be there regardless of the hurtful things that have been said,” noted royal biographer Sally Bedell.
