One has to wonder if Prince Harry recognizes the irony behind his words when he and Meghan Markle informed the public that the programming they would be providing Netflix would “inform and give hope.” After all, Prince Harry literally yanked the rug right out from under the Invictus Games Foundation, informing their executives that He wouldn’t be attending a major fundraising event and removing hope of refilling the charity’s coffers. British tabloids quoted insiders as saying the new Netflix deal with the Sussexes has “created a conflict.”
Of course, the conflict in question has to do with the fact that the Invictus fundraising event was due to be streamed by Amazon, which currently is a competitor of Netflix’s own streaming service. According to sources, Prince Harry wasn’t the only “celebrity” to be involved. Both Ed Sheeran and Beyonce were scheduled to perform at the event, which would have been held in a Paralympic-style.
The bottom line is that Prince Harry’s cancellation has left the foundation without crucial funds, leading Dominic Reid, the foundation’s CEO to somberly note that fundraising efforts cannot be held in such a shoddy manner and that they must be “more professional” in the future.
Perhaps Harry Will Find Another Way to Make Good On His Promise
Obviously, all of this looks bad for Prince Harry’s image. On the surface, it seems that Prince Harry has ditched a worthwhile charity in favor of his need to cover Meghan Markle’s (and his own) lavish spending.
For example, a source speaking in a newspaper interview said that, “This was going to be a big moment for Invictus where the pot is pretty empty, and it has left them in the lurch. Harry needs to pull his finger out to find another way to raise funds for them.”
Well, perhaps that’s what Prince Harry intends to do. There is no rule that says Harry couldn’t turn around and find another way to hold the Invictus Games Foundation’s fundraising event. Perhaps it is just this specific iteration that Prince Harry canceled.
Of course, there is no way of knowing what Prince Harry’s plans are for restoring his newly tarnished image until he actually takes some kind of action or makes an announcement.

Invictus Fans Take Out Fury on Prince Harry
Fans of the Invictus Games were quick to take Prince Harry to task over what seems to be an incredibly selfish move on the Duke of Sussex’s part. For example, Fox News covered the story of Prince Harry’s move to cancel the fundraiser for Invictus and one fan left the following, scathing comment:
“This is the story of the Outhouse of Windsor. Harry rejected his noble obligation (so no fundraiser), gave up his royal paycheck but retained some of his titles. Meghan spends her nights scheming up ways to monetize her reflected status as Harry’s wife. Harry’s family tiptoes its way through its endless royalty while sharing the stench that all of this has created. Netflix is one of the many flies that are attracted by celebrity believing it can turn some of this into chicken salad.”
Yet another said of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix deal, “Money over morality…it’s nothing new.”
Still yet another remarked, “I have said it a number of times – royalty in Britain (such as Prince Harry and Meghan) and elsewhere should be flushed down the toilet of history….”
