Prince Harry Considered Changing His Family Last Name To Spencer

I know it reads like a headline from a comic book, but Daily Mail has reported that at some point, Prince Harry seriously considered changing his family name to Spencer.

It is possible that this change might include the dropping of the titles, and would definitely mean a move away from Mountbatten-Windsor. What stopped him, you ask?

Wow, isn’t Prince Harry full of surprises.

According to a source, Prince Harry, possibly in a moment of desperation, reached out to his uncle Earl Spencer, to inquire about the practicalities of using Spencer as his and his family’s name.

“They had a very amicable conversation and Spencer advised him against taking such a step,” a friend of Harry told the Daily Mail.

If Harry hadn’t been talked out of it, his daughter would have become Lilibet Diana Spencer, which is an even more fitting tribute to his late mother Princess Diana.

Even though his plan to become a Spencer fell through, Harry and Meghan did manage to figure out another name that would represent their family: Sussex. The news that they’ve adopted the last name was first shared by Meghan on her Netflix show ‘With Love, Meghan.’

At the time she said, “You have kids and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children.’ I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to me but it just means so much to go ‘This is OUR family name. Our little family name.’”

Prior to King Charles becoming King, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, fifth and sixth in line to the British throne, were listed on the Royal Family’s website as Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.

This is coming after the Duke made headlines for flying to Shanghai, China, whilst his father King Charles paid Canada a state visit. During his time there, Harry talked about sustainable travel and why we should all be conscious about our carbon footprint.

Of course, this did not go down well with fans as they saw the hypocrisy in the Prince flying all the way to China just to make a speech.
