Royal family rumors come and go. And the hottest right now claims that the British prime minister Rishi Sunak just dissed Prince Harry in his Christmas holiday social media message.
Find out how the UK leader created a clever skit that takes its inspiration from the beloved Hollywood comedy classic “Home Alone.”
And keep reading to learn why some think that the prime minister managed to sneak in some shade for Prince Harry amid his social media post!
UK Prime Minister Disses Prince Harry
Taking its inspiration from the popular movie “Home Alone,” British prime minister Rishi Sunak’s holiday social media post has gone viral for two reasons. First, the clever video with its message “Merry Christmas from Downing Street” featured the UK leader’s sense of humor, per NDTV.
And second, some interpreted the post as featuring the British Prime Minister dissing Prince Harry. In the video, the 43-year-old PM sits at work at his desk at 10 Downing Street. And then he questions, “Am I the only one here?”
But when Sunak realizes that he sits home alone, he enjoys himself. For instance, the UK leader practices his bowling skills using stacked cans of Coca Cola. And he also dines on a plate of spaghetti with maple syrup amid viewing the holiday movie “Elf.”
However, while Downing Street’s resident cat, Larry, keeps the prime minister company, the phone rings. And Sunak informs “Harry” that he reached the wrong number. But social media clashed over whether that shade refers to Prince Harry or Harry Cole, the Sun newspaper’s political editor.

However, posted on both Instagram and X (the platform formerly known as Twitter), the video kept trending for its delightful sense of humor. And some compared the prime minister’s creation to “Love Actually.” That movie features Hugh Grant portraying a British Prime Minister dancing in the empty halls of 10 Downing Street.
But social media lit up with a debate over whether Sunak intended to throw shade at Prince Harry or the Sun newspaper’s political editor. However, “wrong number Harry” trended. And many praised Sunak for the clever video.
For instance, one fan noted, “Very very funny . For the British PM to happily take the piss out of a prince so very publicly is staggering. But I’m absolutely loving it. No one does subtle humiliation like us Brits!”

And a resident of another country shared, “I need to become British. These are my kind of people. Subtle humiliation. I was born in the wrong country, honestly.”
However, in terms of appreciation, fans of Larry the cat also purred their approval. For example, one follower shared, “Look he’s hugging Larry? the Downing Street Cat. So I as a cat lover am also pleased.”
Meanwhile, in real life, the British prime minister shared that he devotes Christmas Day to cooking the traditional turkey roast dinner. “I always brine, then cook the turkey,” revealed Sunak. “I hate the cooking,” he added. “But no one else will do it!”
And he also shared his appreciation for “the amazing people who keep this country going. We’re so grateful for all the work that you do – this Christmas and always.” However, in Sunak’s formal Christmas message, he shared that he views the holidays as “a time of peace, joy, compassion. A time of hope and a promise of a better world. And today as we look ahead, let’s keep that promise of a brighter future burning into the new year,” he added.
