Prince Harry moved “The Crown” star Dominic West from his friends list of contacts to his blocked list. And based on the reason, we’re guessing that the Duke of Sussex’s list of people he’s ghosted looks depressingly longer than his friends list!
Find out what Dominic revealed as the reason for Harry ending his friendship with the actor. And keep reading to discover how “The Crown” star discussed the Duke of Sussex’s unexpected expertise in building toilets.
Prince Harry – Cuts Contact With Actor
Dominic West, who portrays King Charles III on “The Crown,” used to enjoy a close friendship with Charles’ son Prince Harry. However, then West said something that Harry viewed as too personal in a press conference.
“We sort of [lost touch because] I said too much in a press conference. And so, we didn’t speak after that,” revealed the actor, 54, said via Us.
And West then offered details on how and why Harry, 39, ghosted him. “I think I was asked what we did,” West recalled. And he also responded to questions about “what we did to celebrate when we got there.”
But “The Crown” actor admitted he “probably said too much.” West and the Duke of Sussex became close during a charity event Walking With the Wounded in 2013. And the two went on an expedition through Antarctica with injured military veterans. As a veteran, Harry frequently performs charity work to help other former service people.
Prince Harry – Becomes Expert In ‘Building Latrines’
And after their Walking With the Wounded journey, West participated in a press conference about the experience. But he praised Harry as “very much part of the team. He seemed to specialize in building latrines.”
And The Crown actor recalled how the Duke of Sussex “built this incredible castellated structure with blocks to keep out the wind. And it even had a [toilet] roll holder,” gushed West. However, apparently Harry didn’t appreciate the description of his latrine-building skills.
And so the friendship ended. As a result, West did not receive Harry’s advice on portraying King Charles. West joined the Netflix series in 2022’s season 5, playing the older version of Charles and replacing Josh O’Connor.
Prince Harry ‘- Fact Checks’ The Crown
But Harry has watched The Crown, which takes its story from the reign of his late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II. And the Duke of Sussex noted that the show “gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle, what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that.”
But Harry admitted, “I’m way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family, or my wife, or myself.” However, the Duke of Sussex also revealed that he “fact-checks” the new episodes. “Which, by the way, is another reason why it’s so important that history has it right.”
Princess Anne also has watched The Crown, revealed Jonathan Pryce. The actor portrayed Prince Philip in seasons 5 and 6. And Pryce recalled, “When I was made a knight and went to Windsor [Castle], and it was Princess Anne who dubbed me, I was in the middle of playing her father. And there’d been intimations that she’d seen some of it.”
As a result, when Princess Anne “put the sword lightly on the shoulder, and I stood up. I said, ‘Oh, I don’t know what to say to you, um, sorry? And she said, ‘Why? It’s done now.’ Now, whether she meant I was saying ‘sorry’ for being here tonight, or sorry for ‘You’ve played my father and it’s done the way you’ve done it, it’s whatever,’ it was quite an amusing moment for me, at least.”
