Another day, another reason to criticize the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. But this time around it’s Prince Harry who is getting slammed for traveling to China.

That’s because a lot of people can’t help but roll their eyes over the fact that Harry is traveling from California all the way to Shanghai to help promote ‘greener’ travel. Couldn’t have just Zoomed it in? That’s what critics on both sides want to know.

London’s The Times even went a step further to calculate Prince Harry’s carbon footprint from Los Angeles to China.

The publication writes that, “avoiding this trip [Los Angeles to Shanghai] is as climate friendly as carpooling for 3.7 years.”

If that weren’t enough, they also wrote that on “average, a passenger travelling first-class on a return flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai causes the equivalent of 6311.32kg or 6.31 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, according to the conversion model used by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.”

As our readers can imagine, the internet certainly did have a lot to say about the matter.

Some have even commented with, “Of course this outrage is performative. If Harry flew commercial on regularly scheduled flights, the same fuel would have been used whether or not Harry was on board.”

Should Prince Harry Cancel His Trip?

“One of the great drawbacks of newspapers going digital is that they have unlimited space to write drivel like this.”

Another royal critic wrote, “I also wonder if this was intentional on Harry’s part. We knew for months in advance that Charles was coming to North America. I’d be curious if Harry booked it before or after getting an idea of when his father would be on the continent.”

And then there was this comment as well: “Earthshot could technically be held in the UK every year. But it was just in Singapore. So yeah, where’s the outrage? Won’t the next one likely be in Brazil or somewhere in South America? This outrage is so performative.”

So far the Duke of Sussex has not made any comments about the matter although at this point it’s doubtful that anything will be said.
