Royal family watchers felt stunned throughout Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Bombshells dropped by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ranged from alleging racism amid the royal family to Kate Middleton causing Meghan to cry prior to her wedding. As a result, much of what Harry and Meghan claimed has come under recent scrutiny.
And now, one of the biggest shockers served up by Harry has gotten contradicted. Find out what royal family officials are calling a lie below!
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle: Poor Little Rich Royal Kids? Maybe Not
In their headline-making interview with Oprah, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry painted themselves somewhat like poor little rich kids. Treated cruelly by the royal family, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex seemed to imply that they were forced to exit the country or risk more problems.
But did Prince Harry tell the truth when he alleged that the royal family “literally cut me off financially” in 2020?
Officials representing Prince Charles (Harry’s father) are denying Harry’s statement. Those royal family reps told journalists that Harry did NOT tell the truth.
Instead, Prince Charles provided Harry and Meghan with a “substantial sum” even as the couple exited the royal family.
Did Prince Harry, Meghan Markle REALLY Get ‘Cut Off’ From Royal Family?
So why the delay in getting the supposed truth about Harry’s allegations against his father?
The royal family only recently published its annual reports for the financial year, which ended March 2021. Released by Buckingham Palace, the Sovereign Grant report shows exactly how public money is spent.
And the revelations about Harry and Meghan from royal family officials don’t stop there! As a result of the report, journalists looked closely at another publication.
A document representing the household of Prince Charles provides a different annual review. A senior royal family official shared the meaning of an expense linked to Markle and her husband.
That official explained that the money given to Meghan and Harry “to support them” served as a bridge to their independence.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s Financial Situation Today
Since leaving the royal family in March 2020, Meghan and Harry began what Charles viewed as a transitional year.
With the help of Charles’ financial support, the couple gradually began a new life in California. Thus far, their financial successes include:
- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle inked a multi-year production deal with Netflix. That contract is estimated at $150 million.
- Meghan and Harry signed a deal with Spotify. The potential monetary value of that contract has not yet been released, but the streaming service has produced one lucrative success after another for its celebrity participants.
- A children’s book, “The Bench,” authored by Meghan Markle, just hit the best-seller lists.
Meghan and Harry now appear to be happily settled down in their mansion in Santa Barbara, California with their two children. As for any type of home base in the U.K.?
The Buckingham Palace report did indicate that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex paid a “lump sum of £2.4 million to reimburse the Sovereign Grant for expenditure incurred on the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage.” As a result, that money allows the couple to retain the cottage. Should they want to return their same day, perhaps to show their son Archie his birth place, it’s a pretty little backup!
