Prince Harry May Not Want To Be A Royal, But He Enjoys His Royal Titles Very Much

Prince Harry has made it clear that he didn’t necessarily grow up comfortable with his role as second, now fifth, in line to the British throne. He once referred to his time in the Royal Family fold as causing “generational pain”, and declared that his father and brother are both “trapped” in the system.
Royal biographer Andrew Morton is agreeing that Harry is indeed reluctant to his royal titles, though he continues to wave it around.
Andrew Morton Discusses Prince Harry’s Reluctance To Live As A Royal
The author of “Diana: Her True Story”, Andrew Morton, has released a brand new book about one of the most beloved royals of all time, titled, “The Queen: Her Life”.
To mark the release and promote the book, Andrew Morton went on a press tour and talked about his contact and opinions about several members of the Royal Family.
During a chat with Marie Claire, the royal biographer talked about Prince Harry’s decision to lead a normal life away from the Royal Family.
“Prince Harry, he didn’t particularly want to be royal,” Morton told Marie Claire during an exclusive interview. “Obviously, he’ll use the title and use the access, but he doesn’t particularly want to do the job as it’s presently constituted.”
Not Wanting To Be. A Royal Is Nothing New
Even though Harry’s life and exit has come with its own drama and controversies, Andrew Morton reminded everyone that it’s nothing new.
“You had the same with Edward VIII,” he said. In fact, Harry’s life is said to be mirroring that of his great-great-uncle who abdicated, especially with a memoir on the way.
“So this is not new, where a prince or a princess thinks, “I’d rather be doing something else.’
“[When you’re a working royal] you are yoked to service and to duty, and you saw that with the Queen. Two days before she died, she met with the new Prime Minister, the head of lettuce.”
(Morton was referring to Liz Truss, whose reign ended faster than it’ll take a lettuce to decompose, thereby making it a running joke for the British people).
“Harry saying that William and Charles were trapped was true to a degree,” Morton continued. “They are trapped in a life of service, but they can shape it to their will as well. And it’s not the worst gig in the world, to have a President of the United States on speed dial.”
“I don’t think the charity box would fill very quickly if you did a ‘poor me’ for these royals,” Morton said, adding: “It’s a payoff. You pay a price, and you get to have quite an interesting life.”
